Ayurveda
|
|
| Ayurveda is the most ancient natural healing system of India . The word Ayurveda means the science of life. It is to do with healing through herbs and natural means. This system is a part of Vedic science and goes back to more than 4000 years B.C. This healing system was formulated by the ancient Hindu seers who were enlightened men. Vedic sciences include yoga, meditation, astrology, and ayurveda. Thus it is a branch of the holy sciences. Ayurveda includes herbal supplements, right kind of diets, and right kind of living. Therefore the spiritual aspect is very much inherent. Ayurvedic healing became very popular and spread to other parts of the world like Tibet, Sri Lanka, Burma, and China. The Buddhist monks applied the science to their practice. Many monks were Ayurvedic doctors. As per the spiritual culture and belief of ancient Hindu scriptures, diseases arise out of two main reasons. First, because of physical and biological disorders, which is generally treated with herbs, diet correction and certain yogic exercises.
Second, because of bad karmic effects, which require greater application

In the vedic view of world every human being is an image of the universe, surrounded by multitude of powers and energies. Vasthu, the oldest Indian science of architecture, is part of the Indian Vedas, the "books of science", whose roots trace back to 1.500 BC.
Ayurveda ("ayus + veda" = life + science) is also an old Indian healing method.
The essence of Ayurveda is a coordinated concept of natural remedies, oil massages, respiration techniques as well as special nourishment, in order to harmonize the unbalanced body with oneself.
The property of Indus Valley is built like an Indian temple based on very strict Vasthu principles, so that the guests can enjoy during their Ayurveda therapy a pleasant and convenient atmosphere, supported by positive Vasthu effects.
According to Vasthu sleeping or cooking are subject to different influences or energies; the morning sun is very much used for therapeutic purposes whereas the evening sun weakens the body, geological influences (magnetic fields of the earth) could have an impact on the blood circulation. Consequently the segmentation of a property should be equal to a Mandala.

Panchakarma:
Panchakarma, which includes five major
procedures, is meant to purify the whole body by eliminating the accumulated toxins
from it. This package includes treatments like Virechana (Purgation), Vamana (Emesis),
Snehavasthi (Medicated Oil Enema), Kashayavasti (medicated decoction enema) &
Nasya (Nasal Administration). The specialty of this treatment is that it can be
administered both in a healthy, as well as thediseased person. When a healthy person
subjects himself to Panchakarma, it has a preventive, restorative and rejuvenative
effect on the body. In the beginning of the therapy, the body is prepared for the
actual process of elimination.
This is done by the following processes:
Deepana and Pachana : The purpose of these treatments is to keep the digestive
fire at its best, by means of oral medication .
Oleation and Sudation are the most important preparatory measures to have Panchakarma
(purification therapies). This includes various types of whole body therapies like
Synchronized massage, Pizhichil (kayaseka), Njavarakizhi, Choorna swedam, Pathrapotala
swedam, etc, can be done both internally as well as externally. Medicated ghees
or oils are also administered orally for the purpose of Internal Oleation [Snehapana].
Both these methods lubricate the body channels and loosen the toxins accumulated
in the body. Apart from this, localized therapies like Shirodhara, Shirovasti, Greevavasti,
Kadeevasti, Nethra tharpanam,Thalam, Lepanam will be also done in specific cases.
In the Eliminative Phase, the physician, based upon the condition of the patient's
disease, decides the type of the Panchakarma treatment.
|
|
|
|
Stress Management:
Modern age is full of stress and strain. The fast life is exciting as well
as overtaxing. The holistic approach of Ayurveda tackles these hazards in its own
natural way. It focuses on the impact of the mind on body, and vice versa. Carefully
planned programs such as special soothing massages, Pizhichil, Sirodhara, etc.,
works at the physical level to soothe the aching muscles and tensed nerves. At the
same time, individually selected yoga, meditation and Pranayama (breathing exercises)
calm down the mind and bring back the natural rhythm of the mind and body.
|
|
|
|
Weight reduction :
Continuous indulgence in high fat food, fried items, etc., along with sedentary
life-style leads to excess accumulation of body fat which gets deposited in the
numerous body channels. This condition is associated with irregular appetite, hypertension,
diabetes and many other metabolic-disorders. Special programs are included in this
package with the purpose to cut down this excess fat, to correct the irregular metabolism
and to clear the body channels.
Deep dry massage with herbal powders and pastes, synchronized massage with specific
oils, steam bath, etc., mobilize the accumulated fat, where as, specially designed
diet programs prevent its further accumulation. Practice of specific yoga postures
is also advised to reduce body weight
|
|
|
|
Old age care (from 60 years onwards) :
Old age evokes many nagginghealthproblems like constipation, indigestion, sleeplessness,
exhaustion, wrinkled skin, diminishing sensory faculties, etc. Rejuvenation therapies
like Pizhichil, Njavarakizhi strengthen the system, invigorate immunity and impart
freshness in the body. Panchakarma therapies, particularly medicated enemas relive
constipation and correct digestion. Sirodhara nourishes the head, which is the abode
of all the sense organs. This package wages war against old age health problems
from all fronts and brings back the harmony of mind, body and soul.

purification and selective Ayurveda treatments. After a careful analysis of the
patient data and detailed examination the Ayurveda doctor will compose an individual

Ayurveda on the beach … The Travancore
|
|
|
Nearest airport
: Trivandrum (TRV)/Kerala – South India. Distance from
airport: 23 km (driving time: 30 minutes)
|
|
|
|
The Travancore Heritage is one of the most beautiful heritage resorts in Kerala. The main building housing the reception was originally a 150 years old typical antique Kerala palace and brings alive the age-old traditional architectural splendour of the region with its typical timber houses and “Nalukettus”
with tiled roofing.
Being dismantled in its hometown and originally rebuilt in combination with modern designs, the lobby is an image of the majestic Valiyamadam Palace of the earlier Edapally kings, decorated with fine wood carvings and beautiful stone masonry at its columns.
|
|
|
|
Location:
In Chowara, 23 km south of Trivandrum airport. The resort is situated on
a 120 m high cliff overlooking the Arabian Sea in 15 acres of lush green coconut
garden. The beach below the cliff, also accessible by an elevator, is maintained
by the resort during day time within the entrance area with beach chairs, umbrellas
and a life guard.
|
|
|
|
Rooms:
There are 90 rooms with air-condition, tastefully equipped with antique
robust wooden furniture in the traditional Kerala style, satellite TV, telephone,
coffee/tea machine.
The category of rooms we offer:
Heritage Homes:
23 antique wooden cottages spread in the garden complete with a tiled roof.
It is typical that less day light will enter the interior, as in vintage Travancore
the people spent the day outside their homes within the community. These cottages
with 2 – 6 rooms in each unit overlook the green lawns.
Premium Mansion:
The two building structure houses 20 rooms perched
on the edge of the cliff. The balconies offer an excellent view of the Arabian Sea.
Heritage Premium Cottages:
The 20 independent elegant units have spacious toilets including garden baths
with cold/hot water showers. Also here the interior has smooth lights, as during
day time guests should enjoy the huge garden with exotic trees and plants from their
veranda.
|
|
|
|
Facilities and services:
Small separate Ayurveda restaurant, where only Ayurveda dishes are served, "open
house" restaurant (multi cuisine and sea food), overlooking the pool with arches,
wooden roof ceiling, some 100 years old with exquisite decorative work, further
more Bar, laundry, Curio Shop, money change. All common credit cards are accepted.
|
Features:
Beach down the cliff: A stretch of 200 m is guarded during day time by the life
guards. Beach side restaurant, sunshade, beach chairs, towels, toilets and fresh
water showers are available.
The public beach has a length of nearly 7 km up to Poovar. During the monsoon (around
June – September) the sea can be very rough and the water level may rise).
|
|
|
|
Ayurveda treatments:
Keeping the old tradition alive, Travancore Heritage offers Ayurveda therapies during
all seasons, also during monsoon, as in this time the pores are most sensitive and
open. A Rejuvenation Therapy endows the individual with longevity,
memory, intellect, positive health, youth, and excellent complexion, and voice,
strength of sensory and motor organs. Main aim of this therapy is to maintain the
youth of the individual along with the maintaining of his long life.

Ayurveda pure ... Kalari Kovilakom
|
|
|
Nearest airport: Cochin (2.5 hours
driving time)/Kerala – South India . |
|
|
|
Location:
In the evergreen tropical heartland of the Union State Kerala, designed as
‘Palace for Ayurveda with Perfection’ and without compromise. On
arrival the guest will feel moving back to a bygone era: Kalari Kovilakom was once
the residence of King Vengunad and Queen Dhaatri Valiya Rani (1890). A traditional
old wood palace, antique furniture, hallways with exotic woods and beautiful paintings
still bear witness to the glamorous era. This is also the ancient place of Kalari,
the training centre of Kerala’s unique martial art Kalaripayattu.
Due to the efforts by the queen the cultural ethos of Kalari is preserved and followed
as is the thousand years old Ayurvedic tradition.
The carefully and elaborately restored palace property represents a unique combination
of two extremes: Discreet luxury with thriftiness, in order to harmonise the external
material world with the inner spiritual world. Luxury is situated in the simplicity
of the things, as "less" means actually "more" as the fascination we are looking
for already exists in the hidden. Therefore the luxurious ambience of the palaces
meets the simplicity of an Ashram. The oasis amidst profuse nature will also not
be disrupted through modern influences as TV, music player etc.
Experience the holistic healing method of Ayurveda, completed by Yoga and Meditation,
where nothing is conceived, devised, diluted or packed. Wake up before sunrise,
give yourself time for deployment of your senses for your thoughts, for reading
or just for doing nothing. |

microcosms of the universe, consisting of the 5 elements of the nature and governed
from 3 powers, the Doshas or somatic energies.

by the various Ayurvedic treatments. During the detailed check-up of the Ayurveda
doctor the imbalances will be diagnosed. After this for each guest his own individual
therapy will be worked out, consisting of massages, herbal baths and an Ayurvedic
vegetarian diet. Each daily meal will be assorted for each single guest individually.
