The Eastern Ghats consisting of low hills and a dry plateau run through the state rivers away from the easterns sea coast.
The highest peak Mahendragi rises 1,500m. above sea level. The Krishna and Godavari,
the largest river in the state has fertile deltas. An important tributary, of Krishna is the Tungabhadra.
The Nagarjunsagar dam is built across the Krishna.
