Description
Area description The Eastern Ghats consisting of low hills and a dry plateau run through the state rivers away from the easterns sea coast. The highest peak Mahendragi rises 1,500m. above sea level. The Krishna and Godavari, the largest river in the state has fertile deltas. An important tributary, of Krishna is the Tungabhadra. The Nagarjunsagar dam is built across the Krishna.

Agriculture 12.33m tones of foodgrains (principal crop rice 9.7 tonnes) are grown on 13.19 m ha. Of cropped land. Other crops are wheat, jowar, bajra, maiza, groundnut, chillies, cotton, oilseeds and sugar cane. The biggest money spinner is tobacco.
Forests 63,771sq.km. Forest products are teak, eucalyptus, cashew, casuarina and bamboo.

Industry Some of the best textiles come from Andhra Pradesh. Other industries are sugar-milling machine , tools, pharmaceuticals, cement, chemicals, glass, fertilizers, electronic equipment, heavy electrical machinery, aircraft parts and paper-making. There is and oil refinery at Vishakpatnam.

Tourism Among temples, Tirupati in chittor district attracts more than a lack of piligrims during the season. Places of interest in Hyderabad are Golconda font, the Charminar and the famous Salar Jung Museum.
